Looking back, I found there was some parts of research that were left un-blogged.
This includes various shampoo adverts that we looked at for the shampoo brand, Herbal Essences.
This advert has a lot of fast-paced straight cuts at the beginning, sexual connotations, slice-of-life style, hairwashing narrative, close-ups of hands taking the shampoo bottle, mid-shot of radiant hair after using the shampoo.
Herbal Essences Fruit Fusions, Leo Burnett LTD, January 2009.
- Named ingredients said throughout, mid-shots of women using the shampoo, ident at the end of shampoo bottle with a slogan.

Our ads! (very nearly complete)
Here are our three ads at the moment.
They still need a little bit of work but this is just an update of what we've been doing recently :)
Also, I couldn't upload them in full-quality because the files were too big so I've had to compress them down - might make the quality a bit bad.
Advert 1 (Pre-historic)
Advert 2 (40's-50's)
Advert 3 (Futuristic)
I'm really happy with the music for all of them, but I think the third one needs some work in the intro because the music cuts in too quickly in my opinion. Also, in every ad, the music needs to fade out at the end so we can add in a voice-over which we will record A.S.A.P.

What we have been up to today...
We have finished our 3 adverts! (almost)
We have done all the animating for each advert, and all the adverts have music, however we still need to record a voice-over to add in at the end saying, "Simply what your hair needs!" or "Simply Shampoo: Simply what your hair needs" - we'll record both and see which one sounds better.
I will post the ads on here A.S.A.P, well, as soon as a video uploader will work for me!
The one on Blogger isnt working, neither is the one on YouTube so I'll try again from a different internet connection maybe or just wait a bit and try again later.

Music for ad 3!
For ad 3 (the "futuristic" themed ad) we've decided on "Cosmic Girl" by Jamiroquai.
Here it is:
Here it is:
Music for ads 1 & 2!
We have just animated ad 2 and are currently editing it and starting the drawings for ad 3.
I'll post ad 2 later once its been edited together.
This is the music we are going to use for ad 2 (ad 2 being the "vintage" ad).
And this is the music we are going to use for ad 1 (ad 1 being the "jungle"/"prehistoric" themed ad)

Common Craft
"Common Craft" are an organisation who make videos for training and education.
They use paper drawings and hands to make animations about training and education - much like how we're making our adverts!

Over half-term...
Over half term, Amy and I spent a day on our coursework, trying to get an ad completed. We tried using stop-frame animation instead of Flash animation and this is what we had done by the end of the day.
We still need to find some music for it, we were thinking possibly something from Disney's "The Jungle Book" to go along with the jungle theme or Amy mentioned she had found some music with a jungle-ish drum beat which might work.

Guiness ad - Hands
This is an ad for Guiness I found that shows stop-frame animation being used in advertising.
Plan B - No Good music video
This is a music video for the song "No Good" by the artist, Plan B. This is a really good example of stop-frame animation that has helped me come up with alternative ideas on how to execute our coursework plans.
About FrameByFrame software

Update
So after trying to work on our advert the past couple of weeks and not really getting very far, Amy and I have decided to scrap the Flash Animation because we dont really know how to use the software properly, therefore its taking us far too long and we will end up at the deadline with nothing done.
Instead, we are going to hand-draw the characters and make them out of paper and make a stop-frame animation since I know how to do this quite well. I made a 30sec animation about a magician which took me a couple of hours so I think this would be a much better alternative for our adverts and help us meet the deadlines.
It will also tie in with our brand name for the shampoo, "Simply Shampoo" because stop-frame would look simpler than Flash animation.
In the coming week, I am going to make all the paper characters and objects for one of our ads and I'm planning to make the animation using a camera connected to a Mac and using the software, Frame by Frame. While I am doing this, Amy is going to find the appropriate music and get the narration recorded so that hopefully, if all goes to plan, we will have one Ad complete within the next 2 weeks or so.
